For estate agents, letting agents and regulated firms

Send a link. On their phone the person photographs their passport or photo driving licence and records a short selfie video, and our identity partner checks the document is genuine and the selfie is them. The result and its report come back to your file.

How it works

From link to record, in one file.

Open a transaction for the sale, the let or the client, add the people, and send each a link. We email you when each one has finished.

  1. Step 1

    Send the link

Add the person and their email. We send the link in your firm's name, or you copy it and send it yourself. £1.99 from your credit.

  2. Step 2

    They check on their phone

A photo of their passport or photo driving licence and a short selfie video. About 3 minutes.

  3. Step 3

    The result comes back

Verified, with the report as a PDF, on the transaction. We email you as soon as it ends.

  4. Step 4

    Review if asked

If something doesn't match, a nickname say, it comes back for your review with the reason. Accept it with a note, or send a new link.

What you get

What you keep, for your file and the inspector.

The report

The identity service's PDF: their photo, the document and every check it ran. Until 5 years after you mark the transaction complete, or 6 years after the check if you never do, then deleted. You can delete a report sooner once you have filed a copy.

The ID record

Who was checked, the document, the date and the result, on the transaction's signed certificate.

Everyone in one place

The ID result sits beside the person's sanctions, PEP and risk records, so the file is complete.

An email when it ends

Verified, needs review, or the link expired: you hear once, with what to do next.

Questions

What firms ask us.

That the passport or photo driving licence is genuine and not altered, that it hasn't expired, and that the live selfie video matches its photo. It also compares the name, and the date of birth if you gave one, with the details you entered. The report shows each result.

The regulations ask you to verify identity on reliable, independent sources, and electronic verification is one of them. Your risk assessment decides what is enough for each customer, and the report gives you the evidence for that decision.

The check comes back as needs review, with the reason in plain words. Read the report, and accept it with a short note (for example the name differs only by a nickname), or send a new link or check the documents yourself.

The link works for 7 days, and the identity service sends them reminders. If they don't finish, or can't be verified, the £1.99 comes back to your credit.

For a tenant in England, choose their ID and Right to Rent together by link, £3.49: one certified check for both.

No. You pay from a credit balance: the smallest top-up is £5 and credit never expires. Each link is charged when you send it.

Until 5 years after you mark the transaction complete, or 6 years after the check if you never do, then deleted. You can delete a report sooner once you have filed a copy. The data stays in the UK.
