About Certaby
Certaby is for the people who run compliance for a living and don't want to write code to do their job.
Why we built this
A solicitor onboarding a new corporate client needs to verify the firm is FCA-authorised, screen the directors against sanctions, and check the company isn't a few weeks from insolvency. Today that means three different websites, a print-to-PDF, and an awkward conversation about source-of-truth.
Certaby is one place to run those checks, with one consistent PDF certificate at the end. No subscription. No annual contract. No 30-minute demo call. You pay for the checks you actually run.
Who this is for
Compliance officers, accountants, in-house counsel, conveyancers, lettings agents, brokers, and anyone else whose job involves making UK due-diligence decisions on people and companies.
If you have an engineering team and want to integrate these checks into your own software, our developer-facing sister brand Stratum APIs is what you're looking for. Same data, different surface.
What we do well
Two things. One: the audit-ready PDF. Every check produces a timestamped, hash-verifiable certificate designed to be dropped straight into a client file or shown to a regulator. Two: the bulk CSV. Paste in a column of company numbers or postcodes, get back a CSV with one result row each plus a folder of PDFs.
What we don't do
We don't sell compliance advice. We don't tell you what to do with the answers — that's your professional judgement. We don't store your client data beyond what's needed to deliver and audit the check.
We're a search-tool, not a regulated advisor. The full position is in our terms of service.
Where we are
UK-built, UK-hosted in London. The data sources we query are all official: the FCA register, Companies House, OFSI / UN / EU sanctions lists, MHCLG energy performance certificates, ONS postcode geography. We add the integration, the PDF, and the customer-friendly surface — you get the answer.
