Certaby vs Armalytix

Armalytix is a UK fintech focused on source of funds and source of wealth. It uses open banking to let a client share bank data so a conveyancer or accountant can evidence where the money came from, and it categorises transactions to flag anything that needs a closer look. That is a different job from name-based AML screening. Certaby screens the parties (sanctions, PEPs, adverse media, the FCA Warning List) and overlays property risk, and produces one signed certificate per matter. The two sit side by side in a conveyancing file rather than replacing each other.

Be clear on what you are buying. If you need automated open-banking source of funds, Armalytix is the specialist and Certaby does not replace it (open-banking SoF is on the Certaby conveyancer Pro roadmap, not shipped today). Where Certaby fits is the AML screening and property-risk side of the same matter, per check from £29.95 with no contract. Many firms run both: Armalytix for the bank-data SoF evidence, Certaby for the sanctions/PEP screening and the property pack, each on the matter file.

Where Armalytix wins

  • Source of funds is exactly what Armalytix is built for. Open-banking bank-data sharing plus transaction categorisation is a genuinely hard thing to do well, and Certaby does not ship it today. For reg 33 enhanced cases that turn on where the money came from, Armalytix is the right tool.
  • Armalytix gives the client a guided way to share statements securely, which is smoother than asking for PDF bank statements by email. Certaby has no equivalent client SoF journey yet.
  • If your firm has standardised on Armalytix for SoF across matters, keep it. Certaby is the screening and property layer next to it, not a rip-and-replace.

Frequently asked questions

Is Certaby an Armalytix alternative?

Only for part of the job. They do different things: Armalytix evidences source of funds from open-banking data; Certaby screens the parties against sanctions, PEPs and adverse media and overlays property risk. If you came looking to replace Armalytix for source of funds, Certaby does not do that today (it is on the conveyancer Pro roadmap). If you need the AML screening and property pack that sits alongside SoF, that is exactly what Certaby is.

Can I use both Armalytix and Certaby on the same matter?

Yes, and many firms do. Armalytix produces the source-of-funds evidence; Certaby produces the sanctions/PEP/adverse-media screening certificate plus the property risk pack. Both drop onto the matter file as separate evidence, each with its own audit trail.

When will Certaby add source of funds?

Automated open-banking source of funds is on the conveyancer Pro roadmap, delivered through a certified open-banking provider rather than built in-house. Until it ships we say so plainly rather than implying Certaby covers SoF today.
